Propozition helps Wates’ appointment to £8bn ESFA Schools Construction Framework

Propozition helps Wates’ appointment to £8bn ESFA Schools Construction Framework

Wates Construction has been appointed to the £8bn four-year ESFA Education and Skills Funding Agency’s schools construction framework.

Jonny Sherwin, Managing Director, Propozition commented:

It was a pleasure to work on such a meticulously-planned bid led by Gavin Miller at Wates Education.  The quality of Wates’ in-house education pre-construction team and extensive preparation underpin their success in securing places on both of the high value lots targeted, which capture an estimated 50% of the entire £8bn national opportunity.

Gavin Miller, ESFA Frameworks Manager, Wates Education commented:

This is the latest bid where we can pinpoint Propozition’s material contribution to our success.  The effectiveness of Propozition’s bid response writing training course, structured response templates, editing and counsel has been proven multiple times and helped us articulate high-scoring responses despite the challenging page-limits.

Following on from success in delivering schools through the ESFA’s Priority School Building Programme and Free School programme, Wates strategically targeted two lots across the framework, and has been selected as a partner on both the north and south high value bands (projects over £12m).

The framework, which provides the EFSA with a procurement route to access pre-selected contractors, will operate for up to four years from 27 November 2017.   The previous frameworks saw Wates collaborate on 56 schools across the country, including the first school funded by the more recent framework, Whitmore Park and the exemplar Campsmount Technology College.

Stephen Beechey, Managing Director of Government Affairs, Wates Group commented:

Our strong relationship with the ESFA continues to deliver exceptional new educational buildings across the country, and has seen us develop our own component-based design solution, Adapt, that harnesses the benefits of standardisation to deliver optimum value.   We’re delighted to be continuing our partnership to deliver the next wave of future education facilities.
Being awarded a place on the high value lots is testament to the scale of projects we deliver across the group, and our expertise in constructing quality, well-designed buildings for a variety of education needs”.
